Groundbreaking Garden Design is a friendly, small business producing innovative, made to order design solutions for gardens and landscapes in the Ashby area.
Based in the Heart of the National Forest we also undertake construction project management through to build completion with personally recommended landscape contractors.
Who We Are
After completing the Advanced Certificate in Horticulture in July 2002, Pip Wheatcroft founded the business in 2003. She worked as a freelance gardener and undertook garden restoration whilst continuing her landscape design education. She has worked for the National Trust at Calke Abbey. Describing herself as a ‘hands on’ gardener she holds NRTC Certificates in Safe Use of Pesticides and Chainsaw. Her first designs were completed in 2004
What We Do
After an initial visit we will provide you with a written, without obligation quote for the garden design. We’ll show you previous plans and recent projects. If you decide to appoint us we will:
Step 1. Listen to your requirements
Step 2. Conduct an accurate site survey
Step 3. Produce a scaled, coloured plan of your new garden and present it to you with detailed design notes.
We Can Also
1. Introduce tried and trusted landscape contractors to complete the construction work.
2. Project manage the scheme.
3. Produce planting plans

Outline Price Guide:
- No obligation Consultation and Portfolio Visit: £30 within a 20mile radius.
- Small seating areas, patios etc: From around £150
- Garden Design: Dependent on Garden Size. From around £450
- Landscape Design: Price on Application Planting Plans: Prices from around £150
- Project Management: Prices from £25 per hour plus travel
Area
Based in the Ashby de la Zouch area, most of the garden design work and landscaping we undertake is within a 30 mile radius, covering Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire. Some of our work has been further afield and we maintain contacts with other designers and landscape contractors in different areas, contact us for further information.Maintenance
We understand that everyone wants a garden that provides all year round interest with low maintenance. However, with a little more thought, what clients usually want is to reduce repetitive, unproductive maintenance chores and enjoy their gardens doing more of the jobs they get pleasure from. The design process rationalises garden upkeep and gives a clean sweep for you start again with a garden tailored to suit your requirements. Garden maintenance services are currently fully subscribed, however advice can be given on tackling specific jobs using recommended contractors.
